We were hanging on Repulse Bay beach today and my daughter found a dried up starfish. She thought it was the coolest thing ever and asked me to post it for all.

Today at the beach...

I took my daughter and her friends to the the beach on a lovely sunday afternoon. Well...not going to post photos of them but this is what we saw today. The girl had a great time picking up sea shell (very small of course) and playing the sand. The beach is off of Stanley market.

Big Wave Beach

Everyone was telling us that we have to got there. First lesson learned, not every Taxi driver knows how to get there. Second lesson learned, when asking local people to help tell the Taxi driver where to go,  you might find they don't know either. I am hoping it was just a fluke.

I love this place!! It is on the beach, it is walking distance from Repulse bay beach, great drinks, and wonderful Atmosphere. I hope you can see it in my photos.

A day at the beach in Stanley

This beach is more rocks than beach with a small strip of sand is immediately adjacent to the temple and the end of the market. At the end of the end of market you come to a T intersection (left or Right). Go right and head to the temple, soccer/tennis court, the pier cafes and well maintained public toilets. Now go left and you pass a small pottery store, usually small groups of older women playing Mahjong and to the right of pass them you will see the Beach on your right. 

I don't have very many to post, because I took way too many photos of my family.

What is around stanley?

I am new to Hong Kong  and  right now I spend much of  my time trying to figure out what is around me. What fun things can we do as a family close to home. What small little things can we do on a Sunday afternoon?

1. Stanley is on Stanley Market Rd
2. Stanley Prison is on 99 Tung Tau Wan Rd
3.  Stanley Military Cemetery is on Wong Ma Kok Rd
4. Stanley Market is on Stanley Market Rd and Stanley New St
5. Stanley Tin Hau Temple is on 119 Stanley Main St

Just copy these down and show the taxi driver the address

Lamms island

No Lammas here- I searched. We will be going back. It was a great place for a day trip. I didn't find out why it is called Lamma island and I need to know. We played on the beach had a couple of drinks a piece of a cheese cake, and the best garlic bread at a place called Concerto Inn (info at the bottom of the page).  

On the way to the Lamma island I saw this huge cargo ship. It made me feel really small and I had to share it.

The beach was called, I think, Hung Shing Yeh Beach.

When we left the ferry we walked upon all these bike and cafe like places. I loved it!! next time I want to eat at one if these places.

Kowloon Sling, I think it was supposed to be like the Singapore sling. I didn't like it. I don't know how to explain it. It wasn't delicious, it was ok. It tasted like fermented citrus fruit, sugar and lots of rum. The after taste was similar to spoiled orange juice with a kick of sweetness. I only had one. I needed a beer to get rid of the taste. Then we had a nice slice of cappuccino cheesecake.

Repulse Bay Hotel???

There is "NO" Repulse Bay hotel. In short... back in the day there was one, but it has been torn down and apartment buildings have been built in the hotel's place. 

 The famous building with a hole which is the site of the former Repulse Bay Hotel...

Repulse Bay Beach

"Repulse Bay, located in the southern part of Hong Kong Island, is the most spectacular bay in the region. Repulse Bay Beach is...a beach and it can become a very crowded beach during the summer, well that is what I was told. So far it has been a great place to take my daughter while we waited for her to start school.
